The Northern Rockies Fire Science Network is offering a workshop aimed at integrating traditional knowledge and scientific ecological knowledge into fire management. The workshop is open to managers, researchers, and students who have experience or interest in working collaboratively on fire management issues across tribal and non-tribal jurisdictions.

Building on the understanding of why and how fire was used on the land, the workshop will explore challenges and solutions to incorporating traditional knowledge and scientific ecological knowledge into fire management in the Northern Rockies region of Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Wyoming. Fire management includes using fire (planned and unplanned ignitions) as a tool to perpetuate important landscapes that support natural and cultural resources.

The Great Northern LCC is a sponsor of the workshop.
